The History of Wu Tao School from Romania

Wu Tao Kung Fu School from Romania was formed in the 80s at the initiative of Shifu Edmond Nervuzian. Attracted by the Wu Tao style, an advanced and complex fighting system, based both on external physical qualities and balance and on the utilization of the internal strength, Shifu Nervuzian learned this style from Shifu Karl Ianovici, a renowned European master of those times.

In that period, the practice of martial arts was forbidden by the communist reign but despite this aspect, the group of practitioners, leaded by Shifu Nervuzian persevered, forming some of the most appreciated experts in Chinese martial arts from Romania, while most of them are nowadays continuing to practice and to teach the knowledge inherited back then.

Today, our club promotes the Wu Tao Kung Fu style for forming new practitioners who will lead forward Kung Fu style, which is regarded first as an art and second as a sport. Aiming to approach as much as possible our training techniques and methods of those practiced in the beginning, in China, starting with 2007 our club frequently organizes training sessions in Wudang Mountains, a specific place for practicing internal traditional martial arts. Moreover, our club organizes training internships in other locations such as France and Germany.

WuDao’s instructors and a part of its students visited Wudang Mountains, a magical and majestic place, bringing from there significant knowledge, shared with generosity by the Chinese masters and professors, enriching and refreshing both the techniques, but also the spirituality and the culture of the members of the club.

Gathering the experience of the instructors who participated in various training sessions both in Romania and outside its borders, WuDao Club diversified its training courses, which include today traditional Wu Tao and Wudang techniques, chi qong and taiji forms and Wushu Sanda.
